It's election day - get out the boat!
Me: We're going to go vote today. Let's walk down to the big kids' school.
Children: Yay!!
A little while later, as we exit the polling place.....
Me: Okay, it's time to go home now.
Lauren: But I wanted to go on the boat!

I just have to write these down
Cute conversation #1--
We are sitting on the couch about to watch The Land Before Time.
Evan: "Lauren, you know dinosaurs lived a few days ago."
Lauren: "Oh."
Cute conversation #2--
Evan is afraid to go to sleep because he doesn't want to have a bad dream.
Me: "Evan, you know dreams come from inside you, so if you think happy thoughts before you go to sleep, you probably won't have a bad dream."
Evan: "Oh, they come from INSIDE you?"
Me: "Yes."
Evan: "Oh! I thought they came from a Dream Building."

Sorry!
Yes, it's been a long, long time since I've written on this blog. I apologize to my many fans. I'm a full-time working mom now, and the blog fell to the bottom of the priority list. But I've been inspired by my friend Holly who just had a baby this past week.... I love looking at the pics of little baby Finn on her blog. So I'll share some pictures of my kiddos with you. These are all random. (I feel I can commit to posting pictures if I don't have to be chronological.)
Evan fishing at the Cape. He was SO excited for his first ever fishing trip.
Sibling rivalry, what's that?
Dancing queen!
Evan with really short hair.
Evan being "scary".
Story time. Favorite books right now: anything Dr. Seuss or P.D. Eastman, Curious George, Duck in a Truck, Flat Stanley.

How to beat the heat
With 90+ temperatures this weekend, we looked for ways to keep cool. We made a family activity out of washing the car this morning. Evan helped wash Dan's car and then very carefully washed and dried his own set of wheels.

Summer isn't summer without a pool, and the kids loved spashing around in ours. Lauren made up her own game with the plastic rings.

This ballet-type pose was part of the game.

Our swing set stays shady all day so it was an awesome place to play all weekend. We finally got another bucket seat so the kids can swing at the same time. It was their idea to hold hands.

Lauren likes to swing around on her belly.

Evan just looks cute here.

A memorable visit to Pop-Pop and Grandma Sue's house
Today we spent the day at Pop-Pop and Grandma Sue's house in Oakham. The kids had a ball as usual. Evan rode the pedal tractor.
Then he took a ride on the Toro dumper with Pop-Pop.
While they were gone, Lauren gave Barbie a haircut.
When Evan returned from his ride, he gave Lauren a haircut.
We all enjoyed the beautiful Memorial Day weather and the nice country air.
And last but certainly not least, Evan operated some heavy machinery. By himself. He started out on Pop-Pop's lap, but he showed such finesse at the controls that Pop-Pop stood back and let Evan take over. Here he is digging a hole.
It required lots of concentration.

Florida Vacation
We took the kids to Florida last week to enjoy some warm weather... cabin fever was driving us all a little crazy so it was wonderful to be outside in the sun. The temperatures were perfect... near 80 degrees and only one rainy day. We spent the early part of the week at the Resort at Singer Island, a fantastic resort right on the beach. The second part of the week, we drove to Boca Raton and our lovely friend Dorothy was kind enough to host us. We had a wonderful time!
The kids had fun running on our balcony at the resort.

Lauren LOVED the pool.

We took the kids to Butterfly World in Ft. Lauderdale. Evan was dying for a butterfly to land on his hand, but none did.

However, just a few minutes later he got to feed a bird!

Evan's favorite part of the vacation: Playmobil Fun Park!

We tried to get a picture of Dorothy with the kids, but this was the best I got, LOL.

The kids searched for lizards in Dorothy's courtyard. We tried to catch one but they are too quick!

Lauren at the beach... I love this pic.

Evan really liked his sunglasses.

Lauren chasing a seagull.
